Another illustration from the SW "Legacy of the Force" series--I set this one somewhere between Tempest and Exile, where Han and Leia Solo have narrowly escaped the deadly turbolaser assault by their son Jacen's Star Destroyer; I can't imagine how devastating such a thing would be for parents, to be targeted for death by their only son... I had an image of Han, sitting alone on the 'Falcon's flightdeck, and trying to come to grips with this latest "loss"...

There are truckloads of inaccuracies in the cockpit--I had a terrible time locating any references, and virtually none were from this particular angle; so I ended up "winging" most all of it... My apologies to the "fleet junkies" whose sensibilities might be offended! ;)

Mechanical and classic graphite pencils, 2H, H, HB, 2B, 3B, 4B on Bristol board; contrast correction in the computer.

George Lucas owns SW, Han Solo and the Millenium Falcon. :D

The emotion in this just jumps out and hits you in the stomach. When I was around twelve I went through a major Star Wars phase, chewed through all the books that take place before, during and after the series, and this really brings back memories. The attention to detail is marvellous, with Han aged up believably (thanks in part to the distinguished Harrison Ford, I imagine) and the cockpit of the Falcon almost painfully accurate. Anyone who thinks Fan Art isn't art clearly hasn't seen enough images like this one. (Suggested by `DragonWinter and Featured by `animator)

Woah... impressive detail, my friend, impressive. All the cockpit... and the starfield outside the window really is dark. And the likeness is of course great.

...But it's the expession that really cements this one. Very sad. A wonderful piece of work.

I wonder how much he'd sell the Falcon for. I mean, I could definately get to class on time if he ever sold it to me...


anyways, good picture. I personally have never really paid attention to the cockpit of the Falcon, though I probably should. The expression really adds a lot of realism to the picture, it seems that he'd be wearing that expression a lot.

The one inconsistancy that I noticed was that his arm wasn't in a sling...

This is amazing. You really captured him well. I thought of this too. It was almost like when Chewie died... I can't imagine the pain Han has gone through.

Brilliant expression, and I wouldn't worry too much about the cockpit. Han's the focus and he turned out wonderful!

I'm just going to ignore the cockpit. ;) (Seeing as I can't draw it either, aheheh). Beautiful work on Han (there's definite pain in that expression); it's amazing how much texture you can put into your drawings with just pencils.

Nothing's turned out right with the Solo family, has it? :no: Youngest son dies at 17, only daughter goes Joiner-weird, and Jacen... well.
