Another illustration from the SW "Legacy of the Force" series--I set this one somewhere between Tempest and Exile, where Han and Leia Solo have narrowly escaped the deadly turbolaser assault by their son Jacen's Star Destroyer; I can't imagine how devastating such a thing would be for parents, to be targeted for death by their only son... I had an image of Han, sitting alone on the 'Falcon's flightdeck, and trying to come to grips with this latest "loss"...

There are truckloads of inaccuracies in the cockpit--I had a terrible time locating any references, and virtually none were from this particular angle; so I ended up "winging" most all of it... My apologies to the "fleet junkies" whose sensibilities might be offended! ;)

Mechanical and classic graphite pencils, 2H, H, HB, 2B, 3B, 4B on Bristol board; contrast correction in the computer.

George Lucas owns SW, Han Solo and the Millenium Falcon. :D

"Unacceptable Losses" Han by ~FalconFan

The emotion in this just jumps out and hits you in the stomach. When I was around twelve I went through a major Star Wars phase, chewed through all the books that take place before, during and after the series, and this really brings back memories. The attention to detail is marvellous, with Han aged up believably (thanks in part to the distinguished Harrison Ford, I imagine) and the cockpit of the Falcon almost painfully accurate. Anyone who thinks Fan Art isn't art clearly hasn't seen enough images like this one. ( Suggested by `DragonWinter and Featured by `animator )

You've done a great job.In my opinion, this is one of the best illustration to SW book I have ever seen. =)

Aww, thank you! :blushes: It's not truly an illustration, as it has no actual written scene--it's something I "inferred" from the narrative, imagined in the hours after the scene described in the book... I very much appreciate your kind words, however--you're very generous! **bows**

Thanks again, and I hope your New Year is all you're hoping for! :XD:

Thanks so much! I'm glad you like it--we always saw so much of the bravado and bluster from this character, in both the films and in the EU SW books; I wanted to show him in a more human, more real moment here. Thanks so much for taking time to drop by and comment, and most especially for :+fav:ing this! :D

Thank you so much for looking! "Legacy of the Force" is a series of novels set far after the final film "Return of the Jedi;" lots of dark things happen to our beloved Skywalker/Solo family, and this was intended to portray how hard it was, even for Han Solo, to bear some of those events. I'm glad you like it, even if the context is foreign; thanks for the kind words, and especially for the :+fav:!

You're welcome! Okay, I have NO idea and actually I'm not reading that kind of stuff (though I bought the Ghost of Tatooine or something like that; still need to read it), 'cause I love the films and I don't like what happens afterwards pretty much - but thanks for explaining!
Still a gorgeous drawing!
