A character introduced very near the beginning of the SW EU, Kyp Durron. This is intended to portray him as a Jedi Master, sometime during the New Jedi Order series. There seem to be many interpretations of this character (and I myself have done several different ones!), but this version is meant to come pretty close to the generally accepted appearance (I'm not even going to mention eye color...**shivers**). The costuming is an amalgamation of elements from a number of references (proart, comics, etc.)--and a big thanks to Ars_longa for all of those!

ROFL! Indeed! Thanks for the great comment--and in spite of his continuing roguishness (or maybe because of it!), Kyp's still one of my favorite Jedi Masters! I'm glad you like this! :D

Ha! Thanks! Kyp is one of those "lightning-rod" characters: people either love him or hate him with a passion; I guess I've always loved him. He's very ordinary, as a person: he's "damaged," like most of us (in one way or another), but he ultimately has a good heart and means well, even when he's being a royal pain-in-the-sphincter! He tries hard to do what he believes is the right thing--even if it means bulldozing over those he truly does care about... All in all, he's a good guy, and a great Jedi (even when he's butting heads with the other Masters and with Luke). This doesn't mean I think he's right for Jaina, as a match--I still believe she's far better off with Jagged--they're so much the same, it's hard to imagine her with anyone else! In canon, it looks like they're going to happen for sure!

Yeah, I've always felt that Jagged Fel was better for Jaina. I'm very jealous because she gets him... Ha ha, yeah you pretty much mummarized all of my feelings towards Kyp. I used to LOVE him. I was a huge J/K shipper but then I read Dark Journey, and I was suddenly so engrossed in Jag. After that book, I always disliked Kyp and I thought of him as Han's younger brother insead of a love interest for Jaina. I think I'm on my way to liking Kyp, but I'm still very hesitant.

Neat sketch. I've sometimes wondered who this other jedi master in NJO was. Was he supposed to be Luke's apprentice at first when luke re-started the new jedi? Or something like that? Just curious.

Thanks for commenting; Kyp Durron was one of Luke's students when he first started up the Jedi Academy again, training Force-sensitive kids (including his niece and nephews). There's a series of books called the Jedi Academy trilogy--I don't know if they're available anymore, but that's where we read of Luke's efforts to re-establish a true Jedi Order. Kyp was one of his first, and most troublesome, students--Kyp tempered well, though, and finally achieved the rank of Master. Hope that helps shed a little light on him for you! :D

Yeah,that sounds about right,thanks for the info.

As for the NJO series,i'm aware of it being around,found several novels at book stores and libraries in the past,but...I never really found the desire to truly read them,i'm more of a Star Trek fan these days(TOS preferably)but have still have a deep respect for the legacy of SW,and was deeply fascinated with the jedis I saw in the prequel trilogy.

Maybe someday,i'll read NJO,just not sure when,otherwise thanks again for the info.
